The flowers are about one inch in size and come in white, red, pink, and lavender. They bloom in the spring and early summer, and have a lighter contrasting center eye.
Here are some tips for growing Phlox drummondii:
Grow in loose, well-drained, acidic, humusy soil with medium moisture.
Provide full sun to part shade, with some afternoon shade in hot climates.
Fertilize frequently with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
Pinch the main stems of young plants to encourage branching.
Deadhead spent flowers to extend the bloom.
